Beautiful scratch build Dornier RS-1 flying at the seaplane meeting in Hagnau at lake Constance in September 2023. This model is build by Andreas and Quentin (father and son). Excellent model... Superb flight ... English viewer very impressed...
Lots of shock cooling of the engine cylinders from wave splashes, a big maintenance overhead from replacing cracked cylinders.

I used epoxy, then painted using 2k

By 1941, the Do Wal was slow and extremely stable. Although very limited in number, these qualities made it an excellent platform for transitioning flight cadets from single-engine to multi-engine seaplanes. I was fortunate enough to interview a former MLD pilot who trained on the Do Wal at Morokrembangan seaplane base. He told me that he once saw one fly backwards...slowly...in a strong wind!
These are Dutch aircraft in the prewar Netherlands East Indies, as evidenced by the missing dorsal turret that was removed to improve fuel efficiency. To learn more about the Do 24 and the NEI campaign, check out my new book, "The Dutch Naval Air Force Against Japan: The Defense of the Netherlands East Indies, 1941-1942 (2nd Edition) which appeared in October 2023.
That really was one nice-looking aircraft. Very serpentine (i.e. snake-like) in appearance when viewed head-on. It's short takeoff distance was impressive as well.

What size propeller did you use?
Some of the best flyingboat display and filming I've seen on utube, a dozen excellent landings and only one a little "off". Battery might have been going down a bit. Bty did you use differential thrust on the water?
Thanks! Yes the differential thrust is used on water. It is activated with a spring loaded switch on the transmitter.

Yes, I have some understanding of physics. If I remember correctly, if the model is the same density as the fullscale, then a [say] quarter scale model is 1/64 the mass. The wing area is 1/16 of full scale. So the wing loading is 1/4 and to generate sufficient lift, the speed should be 1/2.@@BetterAircraftFabric

Nice! Also one with Dutch markings. 👌 Most in Dutch service before WW2 were build in The Netherlands at De Schelde and Aviolanda. During the war they were forced to keep building them.
Thanks! both Do24's in this video have dutch markings, one is the X-24, and one the X-35 .. The X-24 was the last Do24 in service with the Dutch Naval Air Service.
